Cigarette Cases And Related Facts
A
cigarette box is a durable plastic container used to hold only a few numbers of
cigarettes and thus prevent them from being destroyed. A common cigarette box
is usually a flat rectangular box that opens normally into two halves. Each
half stores several rows of cigarettes, which typically are held in place
either by a metal clip or a spring.
Cigaretteboxes are available in many different forms and designs. Some have a flip top
lid, while others have only a hard plastic lid. Cigarette cases with only a
hard plastic lid can have many applications because it can be used as a briefcase,
a travel bag, or a purse. In addition, there are some instances where a
cigarette box can be replaced with an electrical cigarette lighter. It is
important to note that some cigarette box lids cannot be used as electrical
lighter receptacles due to the presence of lead within the plastic.
A common
design for a cigarette box is one in which the lid is hinged on a side of the
box, and then the entire box is hinged on a side of the lid. The entire unit is
then mounted upon a base that is preferably metal such as a metal tray. In this
manner, it is possible to attach a match to the base so that the unit is easily ignition-able without needing a match stick.
There are
a few different designs for the cigarette box lid that can include different
types of openings. One variation is the lid that is hinged on the top and then
has a series of openings in the bottom. In this manner, the user can easily
insert matches into the base of the unit without having to touch the side of
the box in which the matches are placed. Another variation is the style wherein
the bottom opening is at a downward angle to the rest of the opening and in
this manner, the user can place matches directly onto the base without having
to deal with the side of the box. Yet another design allows for a bottom
opening to be angled upwardly and in this manner, the user can insert matches
directly onto the unit without needing to turn around and look into the
ashtray.
With
regard to shapes, there are two major categories; horizontal and vertical. In
the former, the cigar box flaps swing out from either end and swing open and
shut; whereas, in the latter, the entire unit swings out horizontally and the
flaps of each hinge can accommodate one or more matches when opened. In some
cases, a horizontal cigarette box may include one or two hinges and in this
manner, a match can be inserted or removed without having to turn an actual
lever. Horizontal units are typically associated with lower quality units and
are typically used for lower-priced cigarettes.
Cigarette
boxes are popular because of their aesthetic appeal and are also a method of
preventing matches from being thrown out. However, as was stated earlier, some
models include a mechanism that will rotate an entire unit. With this ability,
matches cannot be thrown away or disposed of in any manner whatsoever.
In some
instances, matches can be incorporated into Cigarette Boxes. In this case, the
matches attached to the unit are in actuality hinges that swing out to the
right or left in order to allow for matches to be inserted or removed. Yet
another variation includes a cigarette box that features a coin system. With
this system, a user can simply insert a coin into the slot and rotate the hinge
in an identical fashion as to that utilized by the conventional type of unit.
The only difference between this type of unit and its traditional counterpart
is that the user is not required to rotate a lever in order to insert or remove
a match.
Cigarette
cases are available in a wide variety of materials and colors. With this said,
it may become difficult to discern which design will best work for one's
specific needs. As long as one has the basic knowledge of the overall concepts
that govern Cigarette Box designs, they should be able to select a durable and
visually appealing unit that will work to their advantage. Additionally, one
should consider the fact that some cigarette cases feature a locking mechanism
in order to prevent cigars or cigarettes from escaping from their containers.
